About Me
JoJo Remeny was born to a Hungarian Immigrant father and an Irish mother.
He was abandoned as a baby and put into an orphanage run by the Catholic church. A strict regime run by the nuns of the orphanage, Jojo ran away on many occasions and managed to get into lots of trouble as a result of his increasingly delinquent behaviour. As a result of his troublesome arrests by the police and uncontrollable episodes in his young life, JoJo was eventually ,at the tender age of 13 years of age, arrested and taken into custody. He was put into a remand home for “tearaways”(a mini borstal, prison style home) for 5 months, before being made a ward of court and sent to a children’s care home run by Social Services.
JoJo went through 4 institutions before finally leaving care at 18 years of age.
At 16 years of age, after watching a documentary on the famous British fashion designer Bruce Oldfield, who had been brought up in care himself, JoJo became inspired by Oldfield and his background, and subsequently went to study Fashion and Tailoring at fashion school and as an apprentice Tailor.
JoJo became disillusioned with the Fashion industry and parted company to embark on a journey into music composition.
At the age of 14, JoJo started playing the drum kit, he played in various bands when he was 18 years of age – Remeny had been flirting with music for a number of years, eventually studying Jazz drumming with a great big band leader/ drummer, who taught jojo how to read music.
JoJo studied piano, tuned percussion, drums, and Indian tabla. He became immersed in the Indian culture and Indian music and subsequently ,studied Indian Tabla with a renowned Indian Tabla player.
JoJo was accepted into the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to study composition for 4 years under world-renowned Indian composer, John Mayer. Jojo went to Bombay/Mumbai India to study at Bombay university with Bollywood composers.
He rekindled his love for Fashion and Tailoring some years later and as a result, organized his unique fashion show and concert. JoJo composed his first fusion symphony, played by a 52-piece orchestra live to the catwalk show of his designs.
